YORKLANDS
ECO VILLAGE
The current Yorklands Green Hub site is a 36 acre parcel of land located at the Correctional Centre in the South East Corner of Guelph between York Road and Watson Parkway South. Since it opened in 1910, the site’s grounds have been used as a reformatory, teaching skilled trades through working farmland, a woolen mill, a machine shop, a furniture producer, a cannery, and a convalescent hospital. The site contains landscape features such as dry stone walls and ponds that were built by the reformatory inmates. The site connects to the Eramosa River (Heritage River) through Clythe Creek found on the parcel grounds. The surrounding community consists of the Royal City Trail, Eramosa Trail, and the University of Guelph.
